Inner Development Goals

This framework is a thoughtful complement to the UN”s Sustainable Development Goals, designed to help individuals develop character strengths that are needed to be an effective change-maker.

Yale Center for Climate Communications

If you’re looking to get an accurate understanding of perceptions about climate change in the US, this is a brilliant go-to resource. They conduct regular surveys to map understanding & opinions about climate change (they call it global warming in the surveys, presumably for data consistency over the years) and you can search through the data for specific US states and demographics.

Planetary Boundaries Framework

If you’ve ever wished you could just look at a dashboard to find out how well we’re doing at taking care of our lovely home earth, this is one of the best ones I’ve found. Sadly, there are a lot of orange and red warnings on our dashboard at the moment, but it’s good to know where we stand so we know where we need to do the work.

This framework is also the basis for the Netflix documentary, Breaking Boundaries, and the creators at Stockholm Resilience Centre are also collaborators in another favorite resource, Earth4All.

Earth 4 All

If looking at that dashboard makes you wish we had a roadmap for solving all the trouble we’re in, Earth 4 All has got you covered. You can read all about their ‘five extraordinary turnarounds’ in the executive summary.

Katie Patrick is one of my favorite thought leaders to follow. Her specialty is gamification and behavior change research for climate solutions and her content is so full of insights and inspiration!

How to talk about Climate

For the oh-so-crucial ability to talk to non-climate people about climate, this report is full of gems to help climate nerds like me dial back the lingo and talk about the issue using language that makes sense to and resonates with everyday people.

The creators of this report, the Potential Energy Coalition, have lots of other great resources too, including downloadable videos like this one to drive home crucial messaging about climate change:

Storytelling frameworks

In addition to knowing the right language to use when talking about climate, great storytelling can be instrumental in sharing ideas and spreading inspiration for climate solutions. Ever since I discovered these helpfully illustrated storytelling frameworks, I keep coming back to them again and again.
